NASCAR Homestead Miami Speedway Nov 20-22 09

Jimmie Johnson in practice with very empty seats.

They go through a lot of goodyear tires!

Kyle Busch takes the win in Homestead and the overall Championship in the Nationwide series.

Jimmie Johnson through turn 3.

Mark Martin end the year with one of his best seasons in his 25 plus year career.

Jeff Gordon and his daughter before the start of the race.

Here is a shot I know no one else got. The start of the Ford 400, green flag. Stuck my Canon Mark 3 through the fence with a 10-17 attached, while the cars roared past me about 10 feet away.

Local boy Juan Pablo Montoya in the pit. He has a blowout later on that would put him out of contention

Johnson leading through turn one with Jeff Gordon on his heels

Johnson with his record 4th consecutive Championship.

As I went into covering my first Nascar race and also attending my first Nascar race there was a lot on my mind. It is by far the most important sport in American sports marketing. There are literally thousands that attend and follow the circuit around the US. Overall it was pretty lame racing without many mishaps. Maybe a spin or two but that was it. One thing I noticed were a whole lot of photographers going after the same shot. Its a tough sport to cover since shooting positions can almost be a mile away from each other. This is also why there are so many options to get something everyone else doesn't have. Lets just say I had fun and the food for the press was one of the best in pro sports. And yes I saw my fair share of mullets.

Eastern Surf Northeaster Swell - Cheyne Cottrell

Literally hours after I get to bed super late returning from the west coast I get a call from Cheyne Cottrell in the wee hours of the morning that there is a swell about to hit Boca. Here is a shot from the session I shot with a canon 1d mark 3, 70-200 2.8 IS and Aquatech housing in ESM.

Ironman 70.3 World Championships

One of my first events where there were multiple world champions and Olympic Gold medals all competing at one venue. The Ironman World Championships were in beautiful Clearwater Beach, FL where they changed the swim last minute to the bay instead of the Gulf because of "rough" conditions. It was a 6 inch chop! A few friends of mine competed in the grueling 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, and 13.1 mile run. Germany's Michael Raelert (3:34:04) and Great Britain's Julie Dibens (3:59:33) claimed victory at the Foster Grant Ironman World Championship 70.3, both breaking the previous records.

Women's Tri Fitness Fall Classic, Tampa, FL

Not less than 24 hours after I landed in Miami I headed to cover the Ironman 70.3 World Championships and also help out Steph and her dad Ed at Split Vision Photography with the Women's Tri Fitness Fall Classic in Clearwater, FL and Tampa, FL. Here are some shots from the Tri Fitness indoor portion of the event.

Nicaragua photo trip

Shortly after California I left on a quick trip to Nicaragua to shoot the IWS grom team and their fearless leader Cheyne Cottrell. We were in the water nearly 4 hours after leaving Miami. It was a killer little 4 day trip that included a mandatory boat search, slipping and sliding in the 4x4, reef cuts and of course.... barrels in warm water by our selves!

One of the many Tiny Bubbles shoots...from above, while waiting there turn

Lately Stephanie has been super busy shooting, writing orders, previewing sessions, and you name it. When I get a chance I help her out on the shoots and occasionally fire some frames. Here are a couple from a shoot while the kids were waiting there turn.

Dragster Photoshoot

My good friend has asked me to shoot his car for a while and with some negotiations and a spot in my schedule we finally did one. This car was loud! Here are 4 shots all comprised into one, including the "location" shot I took from Nevada.
